Liliana Quintero is the Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition. Liliana holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University South Bend. Liliana is from Bogota, Colombia and came to the U.S. to complete her MBA at IUSB which she did in 2005.
Maria Beato, has been a volunteer with the NIHHC in recent years. Her charming personality and great work ethic has been helpful in coordinating some events, and their participation, either as facilitator lipid profile health fairs or as an assistant in programs like Healthy Hearts.
Luz Perez has worked as bookkeeper of the NIHHC since 2015. She has also been a volunteer at several health fairs, community outreach events, and intervention programs carried out by the NIHHC. Her attention to detail and great capacity for work makes a great collaborator.
Estefania is a graduate of Manchester University with a BS in Biology-Chemistry. She initially volunteered for the NIHHC as a full-time intern for two summers. Her dedication motivated the director to hire her as a full- time employee in 2013. Her enthusiasm to serving her Hispanic community stems from her background. As a Mexican immigrant herself, she witnessed first-hand the adverse effects of the lack of access to healthcare and has since then dedicated her life towards working to reduce and eliminate health disparities in her community. Her passion for working with underserved communities has grown since joining the NIHHC, where she has gained and developed valuable skills that will further the NIHHC’s mission and her goals of practicing medicine as a physician.
As the NIHHC’s program assistant, Aurora Leon has helped in the preparation of material for programs and health fairs. She has also been a facilitator for the Bienvenido Program.
Olivia started as a volunteer where she felt a passion. As the NIHHC’s Project Leader, she is responsible for the BMI data collection and analysis, and has also served as a Healthy Hearts Program assistant.
Jessica G. Alvarez is a graduate from the University of Saint Francis with an Associates in Liberal Arts. She is currently a senior at Indiana University South Bend pursuing a Bachelors in Health Science with a concentration in Health Promotions. Her desire to help the community in need of health care has led her to an internship with the coalition in hopes of making a change.
Lizette Ballinas has currently started volunteering at the NIHHC and is working on her last semester at IvyTech Community College. Ballinas is currently working to become a social worker and works at Bashor Childrens Home as a youth care worker. After moving to Elkhart, IN in 2011 from Brooklyn, NY, she realized the importance of helping minority groups that have difficulties having access to human services. She has volunteered in several social agencies in the past and is now excited to be helping at NIHHC.
